Pickleball in Torrance, New Mexico

Torrance is a small rural community near Corona in southeastern Torrance County. The open ranch country and long distances between towns shape the local pickleball picture: players looking for dependable courts and a regular group need to travel beyond the immediate community. Ruidoso offers the strongest practical option, with free outdoor courts and scheduled group play six mornings a week.

Courts Worth the Drive

  • White Mountain Recreation Complex, 685 Hull Road, Ruidoso, NM 88345, has eight permanently marked outdoor pickleball courts within two tennis courts. The hard courts are free and the park is open daily from dawn to dusk. Restrooms and parking are nearby. Bring partners for play outside the organized morning session.
  • Horton Complex Gymnasium, 134 Reese Drive, Ruidoso, NM 88345, provides an indoor pickleball option. The Ruidoso group moves here when wind, rain, or snow interrupts outdoor play at White Mountain.

New to the Game?

New players should start with the Ruidoso Pickleball Club's morning session at White Mountain Recreation Complex. The group welcomes a range of skill levels, and the club supplies nets and balls. Bring a paddle. Joining an established session gives a beginner people to play with and a clear introduction to the local rotation. Players who want individual instruction can also use the Coaches section.

Open Play and the Weekly Schedule

The Ruidoso Pickleball Club hosts drop-in play Monday through Saturday. Sessions run from 9:00 AM to noon from May through October and from 10:00 AM to noon from November through April. Weather can move the group indoors to Horton Complex Gymnasium. This recurring play is the most dependable organized pickleball near Torrance and is more useful than arriving at an empty court with no partners.

Planning a Game from Torrance

If you are traveling alone, go to White Mountain Recreation Complex during the club's Monday through Saturday morning session. The organized group removes the need to arrive with three partners, and nets and balls are already supplied. Bring your paddle and use the seasonal start time. If you already have a group, the same courts are free and available from dawn to dusk outside reserved uses. Horton Complex Gymnasium is the indoor alternative when mountain weather changes the morning plan.
